Tax ID Verification - Overview
Taxbit offers multiple validation workflows for user identification numbers, including IRS TIN matching, TIN format validation, VAT format validation, and VAT verification through VIES. Some of these checks validate syntax and structure, while others verify submitted information against an external authority data source.

TIN Format Validation |
TIN Format Validation checks whether a Tax Identification Number (TIN) matches the expected format for the selected jurisdiction. IRS US TIN Matching |
Users with a US TIN are checked directly against the IRS database. This is the same database the IRS uses to identify instances where a B-Notice is required (e.g., 1099 filed with a Name/TIN combination that does not match the database). VAT Format Validation |
VAT Format Validation checks whether a VAT number matches the expected format for the selected jurisdiction. VAT Verification via VIES |
