What Categories Can I Use?
There are a variety of transaction types/categories that can be assigned to transaction data. :
- Inbound: Buy, Income, Airdrop, Mining, Equity, Staking Reward, Hard Fork Reward, Interest, Chain Split, Cashback, Fiat Deposit, Misc. Income, Mint In, Margin In, Staking Withdrawal, Collateral Withdrawal, Uncategorized In
- Outbound: Sell, Contractor, Software & Web Services, Fees, Misc. Expense, Fiat Withdrawal, Staking Deposit, Collateral Deposit, Loan Payment, Lost/Stolen, Loan Fee, Mint Out, Margin Out, Burn, Uncategorized Out
- Internal: Internal Transfer (if two wallets are added, and an asset is transferred between those two wallets, the transaction category will be “internal transfer” which can be helpful in understanding quickly which transactions are true transfers vs. Income/Expense).
- Swap: Mint, Swap
- Ignore (transactions cannot be deleted, rather “ignored” for the purpose of exports, reporting, etc.)
It is important to note that transaction categories are not automatically assigned. For example, if Income is always received from external wallets to one specific wallet or source, a rule would need to be created to categorize that income. Without the category rules, those “income” transactions default as “Unknown Inbound” transactions and would not represent the actual economics of the Income transactions.
Can I Create A Category?
Custom categories can be created via the Settings page within the Accounting Suite. Please refer to this helpful guide on creating custom categories: Creating Custom Categories
How Do I Know What Category to Assign?
Categories represent the actual economics of each transaction and are critical for accurate reporting.
Can I Unassign a Category?
Currently, categories cannot be removed or unassigned once they have been changed from "Uncategorized In" or "Uncategorized Out". We recommend using "Misc Income" or "Misc Expense" for unknown items.
