Sandbox vs Production Organizations

The Taxbit Dashboard supports both sandbox and production organizations, which are functionally identical for nearly all use cases.

Sandbox and production are completely separate organizations (tenants) in the Taxbit Dashboard. Each organization maintains its own data and user access controls, and users with access to multiple organizations can switch between them using the organization dropdown in the Dashboard. Because each organization uses its own credentials and identifiers, sandbox and production data are always kept separate.

The one meaningful distinction between sandbox and production is how IRS TIN matching is handled. In production, Taxbit submits eligible name/TIN combinations to the IRS database and displays the resulting US TIN Statuses in the Dashboard. In sandbox, this step is skipped — name/TIN combinations are not sent to the IRS.

All Taxbit clients are provisioned with one sandbox and one production organization by default. Additional sandbox or production environments can be created as needed to support different implementation stages or operating models.
