Eligibility Statuses
For each Account in the Dashboard, Taxbit will analyze the information on file and assign an Eligibility Status for each relevant Tax Form and Tax Year combination, and will reflect that status for the associated account on the Eligibility page. This status is intended to denote whether or not a tax form is required for each Account. Please see each status listed in the table below:
|
Status |
Description |
Form Types |
|
Eligible |
The information on file indicates that the Account Owner is in a reportable jurisdiction, and the Account has relevant activity, either via transactions or Form Data, for the given tax year. An Account that has this Eligibility Status may be removed from scope, which would update the Eligibility Status to “Removed From Scope”. For more information, please refer to the following guide: How to Add or Remove From Scope |

|
Eligible – Added |
While the Account does not meet the criteria to be considered Eligible based on the Account Owner and/or does not have relevant activity for the given tax year, the Account was manually added to scope and will be treated as Eligible. This status can only be obtained to the extent there is relevant activity via transactions or Form Data that can be reported on a tax form. An Account that has this Eligibility Status may be removed from scope, which would update the Eligibility Status to the relevant Eligibility Status the Account had before being added to scope. |

|
Removed From Scope |
The information on file indicates that the Account Owner is Eligible, but the Account was removed from scope and will be treated as ineligible. An Account that has this Eligibility Status may be added to scope, which would update the Eligibility Status to “Eligible”. |
All |
|
Under Threshold |
The information on file indicates that the Account Owner is in a reportable jurisdiction and there is relevant activity, however, the activity does not meet the threshold criteria outlined in the Transaction/Form Data activity section of this document, for the selected form type, for the given tax year. An Account that has this Eligibility Status may be added to scope, which would update the Eligibility Status to “Eligible – Added”. |
Not applicable to Form 1099-B, 5498, or G/L Summary |
|
No Relevant Activity |
While the information on file indicates that the Account Owner is in a reportable jurisdiction, the transaction data currently does not include any relevant activity. |
All |
|
Non-Reportable Jurisdiction OR Non-US |
The information on file indicates that the Account Owner is not in a reportable jurisdiction and is therefore not eligible for the selected form type for the given tax year. An Account that has this Eligibility Status may be added to scope, assuming there is relevant activity via transactions or Form Data, which would update the Eligibility Status to “Eligible – Added”. |
Non-US for US tax forms and Non-Reportable Jurisdiction for Forms 1042-S, as well as global reporting (e.g., MRDP, CARF/CRS) |
|
Exempt |
The information on file indicates that the Account Owner is in a reportable jurisdiction, but is exempt from reporting based on the criteria in the Exemptions section of this document. An Account that has this Eligibility Status may be added to scope, assuming there is relevant activity via transactions of Form Data, which would update the Eligibility Status to “Eligible – Added”. |
Not included for 1099-R, 5498, 1042-S, MRDP, or G/L Summary |
Please note: Eligibility is recalculated automatically after file ingestion and runs as an asynchronous job. Updates may not appear immediately on the Eligibility page, especially for larger datasets. For data that is provided via API, eligibility calculations will run on a nightly basis.
