Account Details - In-App Account Edits
Overview
Intended to make smaller, single account updates faster and easier to manage directly from the Dashboard, In-App Account Edits allows users to update account and account owner information directly for small changes that may include the following, instead of updating via CSV or API:
- Name
- Address
- TIN details
- Tax country
- Account owner type
- Controlling persons
- Other supported account and account owner fields are visible in edit mode
Please note: Only users with the Tax Manager role or above can use this feature. Users without the required role can still view account information, but they cannot make edits through this workflow.
Some information is not editable through this feature, such as system-generated fields (e.g., US TIN Status) and other read-only fields. This feature also does not support account creation (CSV ingestion or API are currently supported) or account deletion. For more information on creating an account or account deletion, please refer to the following guides:
Saving an account edit can trigger downstream processes, including:
- TIN matching
- Change-in-circumstance detection
- Eligibility recalculation
These downstream checks help ensure future reporting reflects the most current account information available.
Please note: In-App Account Edits do not alter any certified tax documentation already on file.
How to Edit Account Details
Please follow the steps outlined below to edit account details:
Step 1: From the Accounts or Eligibility Page, filter to the account that you wish to edit.
Step 2: Navigate to the account’s Details page. Use the consolidated Details tab to review account information.
Please note: The Reporting Profile and Details tabs are now combined into a single Details tab.
Step 3: Before entering edit mode, users must select the data profile they want to review and edit. Depending on the account, users may see:
- US Data – For US Reporting (e.g., Form 1099)
- Global Data – For Global Reporting (e.g., MRDP, CARF, etc.)
The selected profile determines which fields appear in edit mode. Note that if you are only doing one type of reporting with Taxbit, you may not have both available.
Once edit mode begins, the profile dropdown is locked. If a user needs to edit the other profile, they must exit edit mode, switch the profile selection, and then re-enter edit mode.
Step 4: Select Edit from the Details tab to begin making changes. Once edit mode is active:
- A banner appears to indicate the account is in edit mode
- Save Changes remains disabled until at least one valid change is made
- Every field must be valid before the update can be saved
- A single invalid field blocks the entire save

Considerations for In-App Edits and Reporting
When a user opens edit mode, the values shown reflect the latest reporting profile values for that account. Taxbit builds the reporting profile by reviewing the information on file for the account owner and consolidating the latest complete and relevant data for reporting.
At the same time, information submitted through API or file upload is stored as account data, while the reporting profile is the consolidated record used for year-end reporting.
Because of that, editing fields in this experience updates the underlying account data that will be used for future reporting. It does not directly edit the reporting profile itself.
These updates apply to future reporting only. They do not retroactively update forms that have already been generated.
